Starred Review:

Nobody But Me

A dreamy boy with an active imagination plays riverside with his mother in this tale about the pleasures of letting your thoughts drift. He floats on an inner tube past dreamscape scenes of children high up in the trees and neighbors engaged in various activities along the bank. He craves attention, he reaches out; maybe he is rescued and sent home. What’s certain in this dance between daydreams and reality is the constancy of his mother’s love. Images often carry the story in this exciting picture book, whose lush, Expressionist-style illustrations require no captions and capture much attention.
