Whose Footprints Are These?

In this wordless picture book, footprints lead from a child’s bedroom out into the snow. The home and landscape scenes they move through include telling details, like stacked plates that show that breakfast has passed, and dog and child loops around a tree that record an urgent stop. The shoe prints are joined by other animal prints, too, suggesting an active world despite the cold. The throwback art is marked by absences that become representative of memories from a full, cozy winter’s day.
