Deli Days
A child looks forward to visiting their grandfather’s deli each Sunday in this upbeat picture book that highlights the various delights found in cultural hotspots. Each trip is an opportunity to learn more about their culinary inheritance: how to cure pastrami, make pickles, and roll the perfect matzah ball. The child loves seeing all of the deli’s diverse, hungry regulars, too—friendly patrons who can forgive an “Oops.” The electric colors in the pop art illustrations make the bright deli scenes engaging, and the depictions of steaming borscht and stuffed sandwiches are sure to make young audiences salivate.
