This thorough and concise manual which will help guide readers through every possible aspect of the job is an important tool for building professionals foremen project managers and everyone in between. While supposedly geared toward individuals who have already achieved a modest level of success in the building and developing industry this guide is perfectly suited to students and newcomers as well and will help them learn the ins and outs of the construction industry.

The book is well-crafted and clearly organized in a manner that is easy to understand. The three sections will help readers climb the ranks toward ultimate knowledge and success in the construction business. The book has information on every possible aspect of a construction project down to the various materials used in the process and tips for strong leadership and team management. Thoroughness is the book’s best advantage as it covers every inch of its subject—even what to do should a war break out near a worksite in a developing nation!

Each of the book’s three sections is divided into categories and further into subcategories. This content is followed up by a well-summarized conclusion. The result of the author’s efforts is a manual that will no doubt become scripture for those in the building business. An added bonus is the variety of tips and information related to the basics of building and construction such as a chart related to gradation levels of sand for the mortaring process and even a breakdown of the elements of cement. These charts though consisting of simple and relatively basic information are an extremely helpful reference for many who may have forgotten the little things. There is truly nothing left untouched here no stone left unturned and no information that slips between the cracks.

Ultimately the book speaks for itself; this a clearly outlined guide is replete with the tips of the trade. It will surely be treasured and consistently consulted by those searching for answers. Author J. F. McCarthy an experienced general contractor has compiled years’ worth of expensive schooling into one easy to use manual. Well done.
