Bang!

How We Came to Be

The extraordinary oil paintings in this science book are reminiscent of dioramas in museums of natural history. Each spread of pages focuses on an era, from the formation of stars and galaxies up through the journey from single-celled organisms to apes. Headings such as “530 Million Years Ago …” and “490 Million Years Ago …” may be sobering, but the images are lively and the narrative conversational. Perfect for the budding scientist. Ages nine and up.
