I, sailor / Yo, marinero

2009 INDIES Finalist
Finalist, Picture Books (Children's)

A little boy dreams of growing up to be a sailor, like his father and grandfather. One morning he sets out to experience the ocean in his little boat and finds beauty, stormy and crystalline seas, tranquility, and stars. After his adventures, he returns home for the best thing of all: a hug from a friend. This is one of a series of four books, beautifully written and illustrated by Maria Espluga, and previously published in English only by Windmill Books. They now appear in a bilingual English—Spanish edition from Me+Mi Publishing. The series won Best in Show at the Chicago Book Clinic Book and Media Show. Titles include I, Astronaut; I, Farmer; and I, Ballerina. The illustrations are whimsical and endearing, full of friends, family, and love.
