West Africa, 14,000 years ago A thief and a runaway escape downriver and join others heading for the coast. There, tribal rivalries escalate into warfare. To escape the chaos, some escape by boat, thinking they'll head down the coast, but they are swept out into the open sea instead. A hurricane pushes them across the sea toward a completely new world.
