Ramie Redfeather leaves Cheyenne with music in his pocket and his thumb in the air. He’s looking to find his father, a man he’s never met. Ramie gets a ride with Chas Sweeney, driving a “borrowed” Cadillac. Chas is running from the wreckage that is his life, back in Maryland. In Denver they meet LaRoux, a runaway from Baton Rouge who struggles with a learning disability and believes she is protected by a guardian angel. The teens go on the road together, each on a personal quest.
