The Waiting Time
The Love Story of the King and his Bride
There is a sensation in the air of something about to occur. Everyone around the world seems to be waiting for something to happen. They look to the skies and the deepest oceans for aliens and miracles. They seek love and reassurance within the maelstrom of our technological era. They hunt for evidence of ghosts and spirits to find the meaning of life from the dead. This anticipation according to Evan C Miller is called the “Waiting Time,” a stepping stone toward the second coming of Jesus Christ. He explains this and more in his book about biblical prophecy, The Waiting Time: The Love Story of the King and his Bride.
Using a Jewish wedding as a metaphor, Miller describes Christians (the Church) as the waiting bride of Jesus Christ, the preparatory bridegroom who makes ready the many rooms in his Father’s house. To provide an example he quotes the Apostle Paul, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church gave himself up for her….”
To emphasize his ideas through Paul’s passage Miller writes, “…this passage is also a prophetic blueprint about the relationship of Jesus and his Church. The Church is composed of his followers who are betrothed to him by accepting the price he paid with baptism…. Someday he will present his Church to himself and the marriage will be complete.” The author has taken cryptic biblical prophecies from the Old Testament and New Testament and has made them more comprehensible for any reader. Miller’s personable writing style removes any trepidation that biblical prophecy is only for learned theologians. The easily understandable time line included in the book encompasses thousands of years of biblical history and gives the information a unique presentation. The Waiting Time is well researched yet very accessible for a broad audience interested in understanding prophecy.
For those individuals that are in a state of fear and confusion, uncertain about their meaning in life, waiting for something, a fulfillment of purpose and destiny, The Waiting Time is a star burning in the darkness. Readers will understand that they’re the bride in a wedding to Jesus, part of a covenant made with God thousands and thousands of years ago, in what many consider the greatest story ever told.
