This book is one of the first dedicated entirely to Edward Weston’s early photographs, many of whose negatives Weston later destroyed. Introducing rare surviving prints done in a gauzy, painterly pictorialist style from the Lane Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, this book offers new insights into Weston’s working methods, including experimentations with techniques he would go on to disavow, and his evolution as a photographer.
