The Human Body

This wonderfully thorough (and fun) introduction to how the body functions is both simple and sophisticated. Using specific scenarios, kids are helped to understand concepts like digestion, as they follow pictures of broccoli traveling from the mouth through the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Bruising, taste buds, allergies, scabs, and how nerves send and receive messages from your brain “almost as fast as a rocket!” are also covered. Readers further engage by pulling tabs and lifting flaps to alter the images and see the processes described. Ages four to eight.
