"Hope Valley" is about the unexpected friendship between a Palestinian woman (Ruby) and a Jewish woman (Tikvah) in Galilee. The story takes place in the summer of 2000 leading up to the outbreak of the Second Intifada and is told from the alternating points of view of the two women, with a backstory in 1948 told through excerpts from a diary Ruby's father had left in the house where Tikvah is now living, when he and the other villagers were expelled from the village in the 1948 war.
